Goodwill was also a Democrat Parry politician and gave money to Democratic candidates. Liu was also a registered Democrat prior to 20220.

Liu is a strong advocate for law and is well-known for his socially liberal approach. He was a strong supporter of abortion rights, same-gender marital status, and affirmative actions.
