The Masked Singer
TMS, also known as The Masked Singer, was a reality singing competition that premiered on Fox January 2019. This show is part of Masked Singer, a South Korean reality singing competition where stars perform in masks and head-toe costumes to hide their identities. Nick Cannon hosts the show. A panel of judges includes Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg and Ken Jeong. They provide clues that lead them to their guesses regarding the identities of each singer. After each performance, judges and the audience vote for their favourite singer. Then, the least popular performer is eliminated and revealed their identity by taking off a mask.
The show uses codenames, disguises, confidentiality agreements and security guards to conceal the identities of its performers. Marina Toybina, who designed the costumes for the show’s first six seasons, has been praised for her haute couture-inspired designs. She also won the Costume Designers Guild Award as well as a Creative Arts Emmy Award. The first five seasons of the series received the highest Nielsen ratings in non-sports programming, despite mixed reviews from its creators and judges.
The Masked Singer franchise’s popularity has led to two spinoffs: an Aftershow and a dance version called The Masked Dancer. Due to the success of the franchise, interest has also been expressed in adapting South Korean reality shows and other formats that focus on costumes. The podcast, clothes, accessories and stage show are all associated media. The Masked Singer’s ninth series premiered on February 20, 2023.
Who is Moose?
The Masked Singer is a popular TV series that has caught the attention of viewers all over the world. Moose, a crooner and singer who performed “The Power of Love” by Huey Lewis & The News, was one of the performers that got people talking. Many viewers were left asking who the person behind this mask was. After a very intense competition, Moose came in third place behind Scorpio and Doll. It was the big reveal however that made everyone talk. Moose took off his mask to reveal George Wendt. He was a former star and Emmy nominee for Cheers.
Jenny McCarthy correctly identified George’s identity. But the other judges Robin Thicke and Ken Jeong – who were all wrong – misunderstood him. Nick Cannon asked George about why he agreed to appear on the program. George responded, “I thought maybe…I’d win.” Although he described the show as “profoundly silly,” the audience loved it, shouting “Norm!” George’s character in “Cheers” is a reference.
George was well-known for his iconic role in the TV series. However, he didn’t seem to mind being referred to his character. He joked that he was growing tired of being called “Moose” but was happy to reveal who he really was. His closing remarks were straightforward and true to his “Cheers’ persona: “Let’s go have some beer!” Moose’s performance as The Masked Singer was a big hit with the audience and showed George Wendt’s multi-talented ability to entertain in surprising ways. George Wendt (former star on “Cheers”), six-time Emmy nominee, revealed that he was the antlered crooner when he removed his mask.
George Wendt as Moose appeared on The Masked Singer
The Masked Singer’s March 29 episode saw the heat build as Doll, Scorpio, and Moose performed on stage. Doll was the only one to advance to the next round. Scorpio, Moose, and Lisa Rinna were both eliminated by the show’s 80s Night theme. Scorpio sang “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper. The panelists were able to guess the identities of several other contestants, including Erika Jayne and Lisa Rinna as well as Heidi Klum and Denise Richards. Robin Thicke correctly identified Scorpio’s identity from Selling Sunset after carefully considering all the clues.
George Wendt was a former star on the hit TV series “Cheers” who was nominated six times for Emmys. After taking off his mask, he revealed that he is the antlered crooner. Moose wows the audience during The Masked Singer’s latest episode with a performance of Huey Lewis and the News’ “The Power of Love”. Robin, however, was able to correctly guess Moose’s true identity. The mask was also believed to be worn by Jon Lovitz (John Goodman), and Ed O’Neill.
Moose was eliminated as the first contestant. Jenny McCarthy was shocked when she realized that she was actually George Wendt. Doll and Scorpio competed in a Battle Royale. Doll showed impressive dance moves while Scorpio sang Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like The Wolf.” Nicole Scherzinger openly admitted she did not know the identities or Doll and Scorpio during the face-off. However, Doll came out victorious and Scorpio was eliminated. While the panelists had their final guesses on Scorpio including Denise Lisa and Heidi, Willa Ford and Heidi, Christine Quinn from Selling sunset was ultimately revealed to be Scorpio’s true identity.
After being unmasked during season 9, several celebrities were exposed, including George Wendt and Christine. Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg was only panelist who recognized George Wendt as the star of “Cheers”, when he was revealed to be Moose. Christine Quinn, the star of “Selling sunset,” was also unmasked in the most recent episode. Robin Thicke first guessed Jon Lovitz, while Nicole Scherzinger (and Ken Jeong) suggested Ed O’Neill or John Goodman as potential identities for Moose. The Masked Singer panelists couldn’t correctly guess Scorpio’s identity. Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg guesses Denise Richards. Robin Thicke speculates it could be Lisa Rinna. Ken Jeong suggested Heidi Klum. Nicole Scherzinger suggested Willa Ford as a potential candidate for Scorpio.
